Dr. Sara Morrissey obtained her B.A. with honors in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, where she had the privilege of serving on the Sports Medicine Team and caring for the Varsity Women’s Rugby Team who won the CIS National Championship that year. She then earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic at New York Chiropractic College, graduating with honors as a member of the Phi Chi Omega honor society.Her post-doctoral studies includes training in the fields of women’s health, nutrition, the chiropractic management of pregnancy, and functional soft tissue and rehabilitation. As a Chiropractic Physician, Dr. Morrissey has a passion for working with the athletic population. She is currently the team chiropractor for the Boston Breakers professional women’s soccer team. She has served as a Chiropractor for Ivy League Varsity Track and Field athletes, as well as elite level runners from around the world providing care and training for their rehabilitation. She also enjoys working with the perinatal population. She is a member of The International Pediatric Association and is Webster Technique certified. This gentle technique effectively provides greater comfort for Mom, as well as creating an ideal in utero environment for the baby.
Dr. Morrissey utilizes a variety of advanced soft tissue and rehabilitation techniques in her practice, to bring her patients back to their optimal health and fitness level. She is FAKTR® and Graston Technique® certified and uses Graston, as well as other myofascial release techniques to enhance soft tissue and joint mobility. Using advanced functional examinations, Dr. Morrissey evaluates the entire kinetic chain assessing joint and neuromuscular function. This approach allows her to effectively uncover the cause of the problem, and treat the area of dysfunction. Each patient is evaluated according to their specific musculoskeletal needs and treated utilizing a variety of soft tissue techniques which is best suited for their condition.
In her free time she enjoys running, skiing, wakeboarding, and keeping active. Dr. Morrissey is a native of Toronto, Canada.
