Contrary to belief, bloating is typically caused by intestinal gas (not water retention) which can easily be avoided.   • Relieve constipation. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day and eat fibrous fruits and vegetables which support healthy digestion and elimination.

 

  • Get moving. Staying physically active each day is key to a highly functioning digestive tract- walking, swimming, jogging, cycling, and climbing stairs are excellent options.

 

  • Slow down. When you eat in a hurry, you typically aren’t chewing your food thoroughly and you end up swallowing excess air- both of which lead to intestinal gas. Instead, sip and chew your food slowly to reap the benefits of healthy digestion.

 

  • Don’t let stress consume you. When we experience stress, many bodily processes- like your digestive system- speed up which can lead to gas or diarrhea, and ultimately bloating.
