Safe in the Sun

We all know too much time in the sun makes us burn. And burns increase our risk for developing skin cancer. So using sunscreen would protect us, right? Unfortunately not.

Here is why. Conventional sunscreens are made out of chemicals that penetrate our skin and are absorbed by our body to protect us from UV light. However, these chemicals are highly cancerogenic and can ironically cause skin cancer (and they are linked to other cancers too). In addition, conventional sunscreens usually contain other preservatives and artificial ingredients that also harm our health. To top it off, they are loaded with parfum and fragrance, which are strong allergens and toxins with great health risks.

So what should we use? The sunscreens to use are those with a physical barrier, one common kind is called Titanium dioxide. This compound blocks the UV as it lines our skin. And it simply washes off after use.

We highly recommend the Swedish Organic Skincare MARIA ÅKERBERG, which is 100% organic and safe to use in all aspects.

TIP for using MARIA ÅKERBERG SPF: Titanium dioxide has a white pigment so mix with a little lotion or organic cold pressed coconut oil. Rub it in thoroughly and wait 30min and you won’t look like a white ghost 🙂

Note: Even though we need to be mindful of what kind of sunscreen we use, it is important to state that sun exposure is critical for our Vitamin D production. So skip the sunscreen and spend 15-20min every day unprotected to get your daily dose of Vitamin D!

In good health!
